Java 1.0 Financial Applets

by Perry S. Smith

Welcome! Here are some old Java applets I wrote when I was working in the financial industry in Indiana. I am an attorney and banker by profession, but I used to write Java applets in my spare time. All applets are written in Java 1.0 using Microsoft Wordpad. Java files have been compiled using Sun Microsystems' JDK. Class files available for download have been obfuscated using a freeware Java obfuscator.

These applets were originally written in 1996-1997. Despite nine years or more of intervening technology, the applets remain fully functional, with two exceptions: (1) with respect to the LTV Applet and the Qualify Applet it is necessary to right click, rather than left click, on the "Instructions" button to access instructions for using the applet, and with respect to the MortgageForm Applet it is necessary to right click, rather than left click, on the "Help" and "Submit Application" buttons; (2) the background of the window containing the instructions and help text is rendered in default grey rather than the intended black. I may try to fix these problems, but I have no particular time frame for this.

These applets are presented just for illustrative purposes. However the Refi Applet is available for download as shareware.
